The practice
was started in 1916 by Dr Finzel. The original surgery was in Marsh Lane, Barton Hill, but it was moved to Dr Finzel's new house, The Beeches in Salisbury Road. Dr Finzel Snr., his son Dr Harry Finzel and Dr Brian Evans practised from The Beeches until 1973, when Dr Harry Finzel retired and Brooklea Health Centre opened. There are three other practices at Brooklea Health Centre; we have a rota for on call and emergencies with Drs Primrose and Ree and we share the Health Centre facilities with all the other doctors, but each practice is independent and separate.

Training
We are a
training practice and have
medical students from Bristol University. These can be from the first to
fourth year. We are happy for patients to ask for the students not to be
present.
We can also have GP registrars who are qualified doctors and have usually
worked for three years in hospital after qualifying and then work with us
to improve general practice skills over a period of a year.
